Anxiety and OCD

Anxiety can make life feel like a pressure cooker—with your mind constantly scanning for what could go wrong, your body on high alert, and little room to fully relax or be present. You may find yourself caught in cycles of overthinking, trying to anticipate every possible outcome, or feeling exhausted from constantly trying to stay one step ahead. While these patterns often develop as your brain’s attempt to protect you, they can begin to interfere with your relationships, work, school, and ability to fully engage in your life.

For some people, anxiety shows up as obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviors. You may find yourself stuck in endless “what if” questions, seeking reassurance, trying to fix object to be “just right",” checking things repeatedly, replaying conversations, or engaging in rituals that provide temporary relief but ultimately keep the cycle going.

At Orenda, we understand that anxiety is not a sign that something is wrong with you and OCD is not simply about being organized, clean, or particular. Both are highly treatable, and therapy can help you better understand these patterns, loosen anxiety's grip on your life, and reconnect with what matters most.

Let us help you lead a life in alignment with your values.

Our Approach

Our clinicians tailor treatment to your unique needs and may incorporate evidence-based approaches such as Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Inference-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (I-CBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindful Self-Compassion, and other approaches based on your experiences and goals.

ERP

Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) is a highly effective treatment for OCD that helps you gradually face feared thoughts, situations, or sensations while learning to respond differently rather than relying on compulsions for relief. Over time, ERP helps your brain learn that uncertainty and discomfort can be tolerated without needing to engage in rituals, checking, reassurance seeking, or avoidance.

I-CBT

Inference-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (I-CBT) is an approach for OCD that helps you understand how cycles of uncertainty and doubt develop and why certain thoughts can feel so convincing or urgent. Rather than getting pulled into endless analyzing, checking, or reassurance seeking, I-CBT helps you create more distance from these thoughts so they no longer dictate your actions.
