Why Work with an Eating Disorder Specialist?

Eating disorders are complex, and specialized care matters. Eating disorder treatment is a specialty, and having a clinician with specific training and experience in this area can make a real difference. Our clinicians have specialized training and experience in eating disorder treatment, including clinicians with Certified Eating Disorder Specialist (CEDS) certification. CEDS certification involves specialized education, extensive supervised clinical experience, and an examination specifically focused on eating disorders.

We understand that eating disorders look different for everyone. Restriction, bingeing, purging, compulsive exercise, food rules, food avoidance or aversion, body checking, and other behaviors can show up in many different ways. We take the time to understand your individual experience and what may be contributing to your eating disorder and keeping it going.

We look at the bigger picture. Eating disorders are rarely just about food. We consider the biological, psychological, and social factors that may be contributing to your eating disorder, including anxiety, perfectionism, trauma, relationships, stress, identity, and other life experiences.

Your treatment should be individualized. There is no one-size-fits-all approach to eating disorder recovery. We work with you to understand what you need, develop new coping skills, and find ways to navigate difficult emotions and experiences as you learn to rely less on the eating disorder and engage more fully in your life.

We believe in collaborative, multidisciplinary care. Eating disorders affect both physical and mental health, which is why having a supportive team is so important. We collaborate with dietitians, physicians, psychiatrists, and other providers to help make sure you have the right support around you. Our clinicians also have experience working in higher levels of care, so we understand what that process can look like if more support is needed.

Recovery is about more than eliminating eating disorder behaviors. It’s about building a life that feels meaningful and valuable to you—a life where the eating disorder takes up less space so you have more room for the people you love, the things you care about, and the life you want to live.

You deserve specialized care that treats the whole person—not just the eating disorder!
